THE FALL OF KING COTTON

Dan. Sully, the cotton millionaire,
Comfortably sat on his easy chair;
Avariciously he cunningly planned
To grab a’ the siller that’s in our land;
But ere he’d filled his gowden purse
His gigantic plans suddenly burst.
Wives and weans, poorly fed,
Now will have a bit more bread –
The horny-handed sons of toil
Once more will cheerf’ly smile.
